Understanding chats

In Ramon, a chat is a negotiation: a working conversation between you and one or more counterparties about a specific deal.

One chat, one negotiation#

Each chat gathers everything about one deal: the conversation and its data. If you negotiate several things with the same company, the usual approach is one chat per deal.

Owned chats and invited chats#

You will come across two kinds of chat: the ones you created (owned chats) and the ones someone else invited you to. The chats list shows both together, in one place.

What's inside a chat#

Each chat organizes the deal's data into three buckets, plus a members tab:

• Order lines — the goods or services being bought or sold.
• Tasks — what needs to happen, each with its date.
• Payments — the payments expected in the deal.
• Members — who takes part in the chat.

Who can do what#

The chat's owner (whoever created it) can rename and delete it. Invited members participate fully in order lines, tasks and payments — they can create, edit and delete — but they cannot rename or delete the chat itself.
